New Dudley mosque plan - from the huge to the very large

[Left: this Muslim ghetto was born around a Parisian mosque.]

New plans for a mosque and community centre in Dudley have been revealed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These proposals have been submitted by Dudley Muslim Association (DMA) for the Hall Street site. The proposed mosque has been downsized in comparison to the previous application. It will still feature a dome and minaret.

Dudley Muslim Association no doubt hopes that the people of Dudley will have forgotten about their plans for a very large mosque and ‘community centre’ in the centre of Dudley. So the new plan has come at a convenient time - after passions and memories have faded somewhat. But nothing much has really changed. The new plan simply makes it look as though things have changed and that DMA has toned down it demands and requirements. That is not the case. All the initial problems will remain. The mosque and community centre are still very large; even when built together, not separately (as with the old plan). It is still the case that a seizable Muslim ghetto will be born in Dudley

[Left: what sometimes happens to kuffar women (those without veils) when they stray into European Muslim ghettos.]

as Muslim ghettoes have always been born in the environs of most mosques - even more so with large mosques, such as the one now submitted by Dudley Muslim Association.

And the mosque is indeed still very large. Firstly, the fact that the new plan connects the mosque and community doesn’t really change anything. Together they will still be of large proportions. It will still be a two-storey building with flats, classrooms, three kitchens, conference rooms, halls, prayer areas (plus separate prayer areas for women), a fitness room, funeral parlour and a crèche facility. Yes, that’s right. That sounds massive! The icing on the cake will of course be the Islamic dome and minaret.

No chance on earth can it be claimed, by DMA or by anyone else, that this mosque is just for the Muslims of Dudley; or even only for the Muslims of the adjoining areas. It is just too big for that. Even if Dudley’s Muslim community were almost as big as the non-Muslim community, this mosque is still designed to attract Muslims from far and wide; even from outside the Dudley and the Birmingham area. After all, the mosque will be able to contain 750 worshippers at one time, which is a large number.

This mosque, affectively, will be yet another example of Muslim colonisation and hegemony. That sounds dramatic. But every mosque I know has given birth to a contiguous Muslim ghetto, whether that is in Bradford, Keighley or indeed Birmingham. Each and every time the designers of these new mosques quite intentionally design mosques which are larger than nearby churches and which also have minarets that are higher than the surrounding church towers.

In other words, Muslims in the UK do the exact opposite to what Christians do in Muslim countries. Most Christians in Muslim countries remain respectful towards Muslims. They make sure their churches and religious buildings do not obtrude too much into otherwise Muslim areas. (That's if Christians are allowed to build churches and worship at all, which they can’t do in Saudi Arabia and other Muslims countries.)

[Above: the Bishop of Dudley signs away Dudley, and his flock, to the Islamic Ummah. He cares that much about Muslims and their well-being! Join his Interfaith suicide pact with Islam.]

The Dudley News tells us that the new mosque plan has been ‘downsized’. ‘Downsize’ is a comparative term. The mosque has been downsized in comparison to the last design or plan. If you downsize a building the size of the Empire State Building, then it could still end up being very much higher than the average British high-rise flat. Similarly with the new design for the Dudley mosque. Even if it has been downsized, it is still very large because the first attempt was nothing short of monumental. In fact, you could be cynical and say that Dudley Muslim Association, at first, deliberately submitted a design of monumental proportions knowing it would be rejected. And knowing it would be rejected, they had a slightly smaller design in mind, knowing full well that this second plan was still for a large mosque. But because it has indeed been ‘downsized’, it now seems that the DMA has done the decent thing and limited its demands by downsizing. Thus they can portray themselves as having listened to the community. Now the people of Dudley, who initially protested against the first mosque, will be expected to also do the decent thing and commodate themselves as well - by accepting this new design. But all the DMA has done is downsize from a mosque that was of monumental proportions to a mosque which will now only be very large. (This is like a drugs dealer who sells heroin and then publicly 'sees the error of his ways', and so decides to sell cocaine only.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From the Dudley News piece, 'Plans for a new multi-million mosque and community centre in Dudley have been revealed', 20th July, 2011.

The proposals submitted by Dudley Muslim Association for the Hall Street site have been downsized in comparison to the previous application, but still feature a dome and minaret, which have also been slightly reduced in size.

A further alteration to the plans, which are now available to view on Dudley Council’s website, is the proposal to connect the mosque and community centre – instead of having them as separate buildings as in the previous application.

Plans for underground parking have also been scrapped, with sufficient space provided on ground level.

The two-storey building, will also include two flats, as well as classrooms, three kitchens, conference rooms, halls and two prayer areas.

There will also be a separate ladies prayer area and entrance, as well as a fitness room, funeral parlour and a nursery for a daytime crèche facility.

Developers state the mosque design will be “influenced by traditional Islamic architecture”, and therefore a dome and minaret are “necessary”.

While the Community Centre, which will be open to the wider community, will be given a “more contemporary design” using glass and panelling for a “modern appearance”.

DMA have designed the mosque for a maximum of 750 worshippers, having outgrown the current and outdated premises at Castle Hill.

Outline planning permission was granted by the Bristol-based Planning Inspector in 2008 after councillors refused the application.

Plans for the full application were submitted by DMA to council planners with just days to go until the permission expired.

What do you think of the new design? Let us know by leaving a comment be.

All people who live in Dudley should lodge a complaint/objection to the mosque!-

Dudley Council has made it impossible to find the planning app. on the website!!

Here is another place to go to:

There should be yellow notices around the area they want to build, informing locals of this plan. On it will be all the details needed to fill in this form:
