Jeremy Paxman Interviews Tommy Robinson on News Night

Who'd have thought, a year ago, that Tommy Robinson would appear on News Night with the scary Jeremy Paxman? That is how far the EDL has come! And we will not stop here. No doubt the BBC felt somewhat obliged to interview Tommy. That doesn't matter. He still got his vitally important message across. And from this new position of the public awareness of the EDL, and what it stands for, we can only move forward again. No surrender!

  2. Shuffy you appear to be making generalisations based on your perception of someone's socio-economic status. Tommy came across well, he made his points and he caused the EDL to benefit from some massive positive publicity. You should argue based on the issues and the facts and not engage in personal slurs. I bet you wouldn't have the bottle to go on a TV programme that everybody thought was out to stitch you up in front of millions of viewers. Read the Koran, Hadith, and Sira and then decide whether you think a man like Mohammed could in any way be considered a perfect example, to emulate across the ages.

  5. Shuffy. Your sentence is riddled with punctuation errors! Your snobbery is unbearable and divisive. I'm not here to pick holes in people's English though. I'm far more interested in what they have to say.
Tommy was perfectly articulate and held his own really well against the overpaid and unsympathetic Paxman. I certainly don't want to live in a Britain where the working class are silenced because they may drop a few h's here and there. This is a guy who knows what he is talking about and knows how things are at street level. A guy who has the courage to stand for his convictions in the face of the filthiest smear campaigns of the ultra left wing fascist UAF
I detest violence and I deplore the rise of anti-semitism in this country, so slapping labels such as nazi on me is water off a duck's back. Incidentally I also hate football, yet I do support the efforts of the EDL as vigilante's where the police and politicians have utterly failed us! At least the politicians are beginning to admit there is a problem now. Thanks to the EDL for that!

  7. Noone denies that militant Islam is dangerous. I personally would go further and say that all religion is dangerous.

However, if the EDL is serious about becoming a political party and not being tarred as a racist organisation, it would do them well to choose its arguments and rallying points a good deal more carefully. As Paxman pointed out, for instance, the existence of Sharia courts for is in no way a threat to the British justice system. Furthermore Islam, militant or otherwise, does NOT promote or condone gang rape or drug dealing. To suggest otherwise is transparently racist.

If the EDL were serious about engaging with / supporting a moderate Islam, if they condemned outright hate-speech among their members, if they offered coherent policies for dealing with real threats while playing down the dog-whistle stuff, they might actually garner some mainstream support.

  8. Dear EDL dont take any shit from any one about the way you presented you did 100% everything u said is True and i really think u are hitting nail on head . Why cause were i am is Hell on earth .. tell u why an asian gang arranged to do an insurance jop on me .. I go to work on my bike and then the police come to arrest me . 9. You should fear this government far more than any Muslim on the Earth. They are the ones closing down the country, vandalising the environment with incinerators and fracking, selling off the things put in place by our fathers and their fathers FIGHTING fascism in WW2 to the highest bidder. Wave goodbye to the NHS, any kind of reasonable education for your kids, unless you lot are millionaires, you ought to worry. Muslims aren't doing anything but dying, families carpet bombed in Afghanistan by B52 bombers, daisy cutter bombs and cluster bombs killing women and children indescriminately. And you wonder why there are some extreme reactions from these people? I am just suprised there are not more reactions, it speaks volumes for the peaceful nature of the vast majority of these people. If someone carpet bombed your town and killed your family and everyone you knew, you wouldn't be their friends would you?

  10. Things are never as black and white as everyone wants them to be, and though though I largely agree with the young man (and Jeremy’s characteristic devils advocate stance doesn’t help one bit) I do wince a little at the patriotic slogans of the EDF. Please realize the Monarchy, the Lion and the wider culture you are trying to convey is based entirely on the religious spread of Christianity. Patriotism, religion and all the other hangovers of what is at base simple tribalism need to go, and go quickly to avoid people acting out of frustration. Unmoderated Islam is lethal, just as Christianity was for a very, very long time, but obfuscating the issue with slights at someone intellectual prowess and nods to blind political correctness will no naught to alleviate the problem.
