From my knowledge of the 8th of August march in Birmingham, it was the Unite Against Fascism/Socialist Workers Party alliance that was on the look out for trouble. That alliance, being run by a revolutionary Trotskyite organisation (even according to the anti-fascist organisation Searchlight), and led by the national sectary of the SWP (Martin Smith), thrives on trouble – just as much as far-right groups. In addition, Councillor Salma Yaqoob (of Respect) soon after threatened the British state and Birmingham Council again by saying things like ‘Muslim youth are going to fight back’ (in the Birmingham Mail). Fight back? Many Muslim youths (Yaqoob’s boot boys) went to that march hoping to be insulted and then to ‘fight back’. How naïve does Yaqoob think we are? This is yet another threat from an Islamo-Trotskyist. Also in August, a spokesperson for the Muslim Council of Britain said that if the British Government (or was it the British people?) didn’t do this, that and the other (so many more things) for Muslims, there would be a danger of their being ‘two million Muslim terrorists in Britain’. Can you imagine the audacious level of blackmail involved in that threat?
So, for a change, let’s be just as strict and judgemental about far-left/Islamist extremists as we are about BNP and Nazi extremists.
